The Ganga Brahmaputra basin
  1. Agriculture: plain area provides the most suitable land for human habitation and agriculture.
Major crops: Wheat, maize, sorghum, gram and millets are the other crops that are grown. Paddy is grown in areas receiving high rainfall.
Cash crop: Cash crops like sugarcane and jute are also grown. Banana plantations are grown in plain areas and Tea plantations in West Bengal and Assam.

2.physiographical features: the main physical features are;
  1. The mountains and the foothills of the Himalayas and the Sundarbans deltas.  
     ii.Ox-bow lakes dot the plain area.
  1. The mountain areas have steep slopes and inhospitable terrain.
 
  1. Wildlife: There is a huge variety of wildlife in the basin.
    1. Large animals - Elephants, tigers, Bengal tiger, crocodiles and alligators.
    2. Main attraction - The one-horned rhinoceros.
    3. Other animals - deer and monkeys.
    4. Aquatic life - fishes found in fresh river waters, lakes and Bay of Bengal Sea. The most popular varieties of the fish are the rohu, catla and hilsa.
