brutus says these words in caesars funeral speech.

brutus first proves that since caesar was ambitious and he loved rome more it was his duty to give freedom to all the romans. secondly, he ensures and promises the citizens that if he too becomes ambitious then they can kill him with the same sword he used to kill caesar.

the listeners were influenced by his words and decided that brutus would be next caesar.
