Hi,

Hi,

Gaston:

Gaston, in this play, has been shown to be a very straightforward person. At the beginning we see how clearly he mentions that he is by no way interested in spending a fortune on buying a villa in which his wifes parents could stay. He is also an opportunist as he takes advantage of the situation to break a great deal and earn a hundred thousand francs of it. He earns this huge profit which shows that he is a better and cleverer business man than Juliette.

ns this huge profit which shows that he is a better and cleverer business man than Juliette.

Mrs Al Smith:

Following characteristics best describe Mrs. Al Smith:

  • snobbish: feels herself superior to French people
  • always in a hurry
  • arrogant: manages to get what she wants at every possible cost
  • self-centred: hardly cares for feelings of others

The maid:

Maid:

The character of maid is quite conventionally portrayed in this play. Here, she tries to convince her Madame against selling the villa and that too at such an adverse time when business was not running in their favour. She thought that it was a good place for them to spend their weekends. She was contemplative about whether it was the right time to sell the villa. She was also a person in need of money and thus, did not want to lose an opportunity to work in a film. The money was good. She also offers Juliette a role in a film, although it isnt clear whether she was innocent in offering a job or was deliberate in demeaning her mistress.
