describe how water carried in the xylem of a leaf is lost as water vapour to the surrounding?

Dear Student,

The evaporation of water through tiny pores present on the leaf surface is known as transpiration. The xylem transports the water ans minerals from the root to the leaves from where it diffuses into all the cells of the leaf. This water is used during the process of photosynthesis, the excess water is then transpired out. Transpiration has many uses, but the main use of transpiration is that it creates a pull force through which water is absorbed more effectively by the roots.

Hope this clears your doubt,

Cheers!
