Velds are blessed with rich natural resources. Mining is one of the main economic activity in the Velds. Apart from mining sheep rearing, Dairy farming is also a major economic activity in that region. Since the land is not that fertile in the Velds, agriculture is not practiced extensively. However, parts where land is fertile, crops are cultivated in that region.
