ANS:  Taproots have one main root such as the carrot, radish and beet root etc. Whereas fibrous roots spread out in a more widespread manner and are thinner like grass roots ie. Onion, garlic, paddy etc. Weeds that have tap roots are harder to get rid of, because if you chop them instead of lifting them out of the ground ,they will regrow and spread further. Since, taproots anchor to the ground very tightly, it is better to eliminate them with a chemical like "Round up" which is a substance like liquid that is like acid but more mild.

tap roots are found in dicotyledons where as fibrous roots are found in monocotyledons.tap roots have a main root called the primary root which further bear side roots called secondary roots where as fibrous roots are ,mainly a cluster of roots.the roots of a tap root are broad at its origin and thin at its tip where as the roots of fibrous roots are almost of same shape and size.the roots of a tap root goes deep into the soil and hold the plant firmly, where as the roots of a fibrous root does not penetrate deep into the soil and thus cannot hold the plant firmly
