Against:

-We do not need to build statues of famous personalities in order to remember them because these people will live on through the contribution they make to society and their respective fields of work

-statues are a waste of public space which can be utilized better by building schools or other such useful facilities in their name which will ensure that their legacy is carried on

-statues are not properly taken care of by authorities who install them. They install them and forget about them thus the upkeep of these statues are neglected

-building statues in the name of famous personalities is just a token gesture

-one ought to remember them by talking about their work in public and following the ideals and beliefs they lived for. It would be better if we practiced non-violence rather than erecting a statue to Mahatma Gandhi
