Biogas is a mixture of gases such as Methane (CH₄), Carbon dioxide (CO₂), Hydrogen (H₂) and Hydrogen Sulphide (H₂S). The major part of Biogas is Methane which is very good fuel. A biogas contains about 65% of Methane.

Biogas is produced by the anaerobic fermentation of animal and plant wastes in the presence of water.

Biogas can be used to :

1.  Light homes and buildings.

2.  Cook (as with propane)

 3.  Run generators and make electricity.

 4.  Power combustion engines.
