Draw an equipotential surface due to an electric dipole.

Equipotential surfaces (or lines in 2-D) are the regions where the potential due to charges remains constant. They are always formed perpendicular to the direction of the electric field (not shown in the figure for simplicity) so the  work done along the path is always zero. For an electric dipole, the equipotential surfaces are shown below.

 

 

They are always formed symmetrically about the center line of the dipole.
