how do we prove half leaf experiment?

Moll's half leaf experiment is done to show that carbon dioxide is necessary for the photosynthesis to occur. In this experiment Moll (inventor of experiment) divided the leaf into two half portion one inside the bottle and other outside. The one inside the bottle did not show photosynthesis due to lack of carbon dioxide. After testing leaf present inside the bottle for starch, it is proved that it does not contain starch and hence, photosynthesis did not occur in this leaf. The leaf which was outside the bottle shows the presence of starch indicating the occurrence of photosynthesis in it.

by inserting a long narrow leaf without dividing it from plant into a glass bottle of KOH solution .note that the leaf is free frm starch and it shouldn't come contact with solution
