if a glass slab is placed over paper on which letters VIBGYOR has been written  with its corresponding colour,than which letter wil appear to b raised most and why??????

Hi,
Refractive index of a material is slightly different for different colors or frequencies. It is minimum for red colour and maximum for violet colour. So, the violet color will be raised most because it will deviate the most.

 @Shukla Paladhi.... i hav a small doubt..........red has the highest wavelength so it is obvious that red would appeared as being raised.

 red has highest wavelength, but the lowest refractive index !!!!!!!!!!!

The letter of violet colour(i.e V) appears to be raised maximum.while the letter of red colour(i.e R) appears to be raised minimum.Since apparent depth = real depth/refractive index  and refractive index of glass is most for the violet light while least for the red light,therefore the apparent depth is least for violet and most for red.
