Candle is made up of a solid block of wax with a wick embedded in it.

1) Physical Change

When candle is lit, the heat of the flame melts the solid wax to liquid wax. This signifies a physical change from solid state to liquid state. Also, as the wax melts, the size of the candle decreases. It then solidifies and takes a different shape.

2) Chemical Change

The wax acts as a fuel when we light the candle and is basically carbon. The carbon combines with oxygen to form another chemical substance, carbon dioxide and water. Also the unburnt carbon is deposited as black substance called soot. This signifies a chemical change.

Melting of wax is a physical change because the state of matter (wax) is changed ( which is an indication of phy. change) and also we can reverse this

Burning of candle is chemical change because it involves melting of wax as well as formation of gas and production of heat and light which are indicators of chemical change and can't be reversed.

Thanks and no need of thumbs up.

bcoz  nothing  new  is  produced  in  melting  iof  wx  it  is  a  reversible  change .

but  Burning of candle is chemical change  as  something  new  is  produced  in  ths process  nd  this  not  reversible

coz.. melt wax can again turn into solid form... But when there is burning of candle it envolved heat and it also makes carondioxide which can not be turned into solid form... remember that reversible is a physical change and irreversible is a chemical change ..

there will b a Ques in ur mind that If breaking of glass is irreversible then. why is it classiified as a physical reaction?  Ans :- Coz.. it doesnt forn new substance or new product wid new properties....

If u hav satisfied ith my ans then thumbzz up plzzzz.....
