oxidation no of N in NOCl

@Kbutnotcat, Ayisha Fazila has posted quite appropriate answer.

As she mentioned it is -3.

She assumed the oxidation number nitrogen to be x and then she substituted the oxidation numbers of oxygen and chlorine as -2 and -1 respectively.

how can it be +1 ?it should be +3

bcoz  x-2-1=0

x=+3

x+ -2 + -1 = 0

x - 3 =o  x = 3
