Water is flowing at a rate of 15 km/hr through a pipe of diameter 14cm into a cuboidal pond which is 50m long and 44m wide. In what time will the level of the water in the pond rise by 21cm?

$Let the level of water raises by 21cm in t hrs Diameter of pipe=14cm= \frac{14}{100} c m Radius of the pipe= \frac{d i a m e t e r}{2} = \frac{7}{100} c m Volume of water flowing out of the pipe in 1 hr = π r^{2} h = \frac{22}{7} \times (\frac{7}{100})^{2} \times 15000 = 231 m^{3} \Rightarrow {Volume of water flowing out in the pipe in t hrs=231tm}^{3} volume of water in the cuboidal pond = 50 \times 44 \times \frac{21}{100} = 462 m^{3} we know that Volume of water flowing out in the pipe in t hrs= volume of water in the cuboidal pond \Rightarrow 231 t = 462 \Rightarrow t = 2 h r s Thus the water in the pond rise by 21cm in 2hrs$
