PLEASE EXPLAIN IN DETAIL the mechanism of genetic drift.how does it exactly work?are there any consequences,if so,what are they?

Genetic drift means the change in the type of genes in a population because of random occurence, which in other words mean that a random circumstance ( it could be any sort of casatrophic event or a disease ) that can cause any genetic trait to become more common or rare in a population.

Let me give you one example: A man enters into a area where there are lots of beetles and he kills most of the green coloured beetles leaving behind the brown coloured beetles. This will lead to the decrease in the population of green beetles and eventually they will get eliminated from the population and the brown beetles will increase in number.

I hope its clear to you.

Consequences of Genetic drift:

1 It leads to loss of alleles of genotypes.
2 It leads to the creation of new species
