Trees bared to winter's touchBy winter's breath laid bareLeaves whisper of winter's heartOf winter's heart they shareUpon the floor red, copper glowIn waning sun, cold winter's holdWhisper leaves, the story toldOf winter's heart laid bareTell it swiftly, in the fading glowEre all be covered in winter's snowTell it softly, speak it lowEre all things cease to growTell of autumn; brooding, darkFor she made winter lonely, starkSpeak of summer; distant, coldFor on her winter has no holdWhisper of spring; haughty, loutFor winter's end she brings aboutFIENDS! FOES! FELL and FOUL!
