Was sherlock holmes perceptive

It is part of the detective's job requirement to be perceptive because a case can solved on the basis of certain details a layman may easily overlook but a detective will not and analyse it to arrive at a solution. Sherlock Holmes puts down his successes to his keen and acute observation of people and surroundings. His analytical skills and deductive methods were applied towards studying these details, such as certain characteristic gestures of people or a change in demeanour while questioning which might be easily overlooked. Holmes took note of everything and this served to be invaluable in helping him solve the cases. Things that missed others would not fail to catch his attention because the clues were in the details.
