wat is meant by estimation of a physical quantity by its order of magnitude? give 1 example

Hi!

Basavaraj, this my answer for your question.

your question:what is meant by estimation of a physical quantity by its order of magnitude?give 1 example.

my answer:By expressing the quantity in powers of ten,we can easily estimate the order of magnitude of that quantity. Therefore,a physical quantity having a large number of digits is expressed in powers of ten with one digit to the left of decimal as under:

example:In a room of dimensions 3.2m X 4.5m X 3.7m,the volume of air is 53.28m3=5.328 X 101m3,so the order of magnitude of volume of air in the room will be 101m3(since the numerical value 5.328 is greater than 3.2,so the power of ten will increase by 1, i.e.5.328 X 101+1m3=5.328 X102m3).
