what are autozomes.why are they necessary ???

Autosomes are chromosomes other than sex chromosomes present in a cell nucleus. In a diploid genome there are 22 pairs of autosomes.
They are necessary because they carry many genes (genetic information) for the physical and morphological characteristics of an organism.
