what are fossils? How is it formed?Explain how fossils support evolution. ( 5 marks)

Fossils are the preserved, recognizable remains or traces of animals, plants and other organisms from the remote past. They provide the evidence of life from few thousands of years to hundreds of millions of years.
After burial, the soft parts of the organism get decayed by the microorganisms present in the soil. But the hard parts like bones or teeth cannot decay easily and remain under the soil unchanged for several years. After a long span of time these hard matters start changing. The water infused with minerals start entering inside the hard bone cells and replaces the chemicals of the bone with the minerals infused. Slowly the chemicals of the bone get completely replaced by the soil minerals and fossils are formed.

Fossils are the dead remains of the dead plants and animals. These are formed due to the extreme force on the parts of the organisms over a very long time.

As the fossils show the analogus organs and homologus organs , they shows that evolution has occured.
