The functions of heart are :
1.Pumping of blood
2.Transport of food to cells
3.Transport of oxygen to cells
4.Transport of carbon dioxide to lungs.

Heart is a muscular organ, lies in the rib cage on the left side of the chest in our body. It beats continuously and pumps oxygen-rich blood to all parts of the body and carbon dioxide-rich blood to the lungs. It has 4 chamber- two upper chamber are known as auricles whereas two lower chambers are known as ventricles. The right side of the heart i.e right atrium & right ventricle supplies carbon dioxide rich blood to lungs from heart whereas left side of heart i.e left atrium & left ventricle receive oxygen rich blood from lungs & supply it to the arteries which supply it to the rest of the body.

The chief function of the heart is to pump blood through your body. Circulation of blood through our body is most essential to make sure that oxygen reaches our whole body
The heart pumps blood around in our bodies. Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to all the cells in our bodies.
Blood used by the body (blue) is brought back to the heart and lungs by the veins of the body. Once the blood has gathered more oxygen from the lungs (red), it is pumped back out to the body through the arteries.

The heart is a muscular organ that pumps blood to all the tissues in your body through a network of blood vessels. The right side of the heart pumps blood through the lungs where it picks up oxygen. The left side of the heart receives the blood containing oxygen and pumps the blood to the rest of your body
Anatomy | Function |
Left and right atria | Chambers that receive blood returning from your body through your veins |
Left and right ventricles | Chambers where blood is pumped to your body through your arteries |
Mitral valve | The mitral valve controls the flow of oxygen-rich blood from the left atrium to the left ventricle |
Tricuspid valve | The tricuspid valve controls the flow of oxygen-poor blood from the right atrium to the right ventricle |
Aortic valve | The aortic valve controls flow of oxygen-rich blood from the left ventricle to the body |
Pulmonary valve | The pulmonary valve controls flow of oxygen-poor blood from the right ventricle to the lungs |
