What happens when dry apricots are left for some time in pure water and later transferred to sugar solution?

When  we  put  dry  apricots  in  pure  water  and  later  transfer  it  to  a  sugar  solution,  the  following  will  happen  -

• Each  gains  water  and  swells  up.
  
• However,  when  placed  in  the  concentrated  solution,  it  loses  water  and  consequently  shrinks.
