what is a parallel?pls help

Two or more lines are said to be parallel if on producing them infinitely they never meet each other or the the distance between them remains same everywhere.

Parallelism concerns the balance of a sentence, or the similarity of words, phrases, or clauses in a list or series.

Hence a Parallel sentence is a balanced sentence in which we find similar words, similar tenses, similar structures in its phrases (if more than one).

"I like going to the cinema, doing sports and to go out with friends" - Non parallel because "to go out with friends" is in infinitive form whilst the other verbs (doing, going) which are doing the same function within the sentence, are in gerund. So a parallel sentence there would be

"I like going to the cinema, doing sports and going out with friends".
