What is colonisation?

Colonisation- When the subjugation of one country by another leads to political, economic, cultural & social changes (in the country which is subjugated), this is called colonisation.

When the British came to India, they conquered India & established their rule by subjugating local mawabs & rajas.they established control over the economy & society, collected revenue to meet their expenses, bought the goods they wanted at low prices & even produced crops they needed for export. This lead to changes in the Indian values and tastes, custom and practices, even leading to political, economic, social & cultural changes. this is called colonisation.

Colonization occurs whenever any one or more species populate an area. The term, which is derived from the Latin colere, "to inhabit, cultivate, frequent practice, tend, guard, respect",[1] originally referred to humans. During the 19th century, biogeographers appropriated the term to also describe the activities of birds, bacteria, or plant species. Human colonization is a narrower category than the related concept of colonialism. Colonization refers strictly to migration, for example, to settler colonies, trading posts, and plantations, while colonialism deals with this as well as the ruling of new territories' existing peoples.
