Oligonucleotide stretch are chemically synthesised, short segments of single stranded DNA or RNA molecule that are used in molecular biology. These short segments, generally made up of 13 -25 nucleotides are used in DNA sequencing, Polymerase Chain Reaction, and in artificial gene synthesis. These short segments easily bind in a sequence specific manner to their complementary DNA, or RNA molecule.
