what is the chemical name of bleaching powder????

Bleaching powder is calcium oxychloride (CaOCl2). The real bleaching action is produced by chlorine which has the property to oxidize.

 Its Calcium Hypochlorite.

It is manufactured by the calcium process:

Ca(OH)2 + 2 Cl2 → Ca(ClO)2 + CaCl2 + 2 H2O

Bleaching powder is actually a mixture of calcium hypochlorite (Ca(ClO)2) and the basic chloride CaCl2, H2O with some slaked lime, Ca(OH)2.
