What is the difference between Progress and Evolution ?

Dear student,

Evolution is the sequence of change which takes place in the primitive organisms over millions of years leading to the origin of new species. Evolution is considered as a progressive process but the difference between the two is that evolution is basically about the change to adapt a better surviving environment. Therefore, evolution is undirected, while progress implies a direction.

There is no real progress in the concept of evolution. Evolution is just the production of diversity of life forms and shaping of this diversity by environmental selection. The only progress in *evolution* appears to be that more and more complex body designs of organisms have emerged over years.
