where does a solid weigh more- in air or in liquid? Why?

Hi!

Solids are more denser than liquids and gases. This means that they pack more matter in a relatively smaller space than both liquids and gases. More matter means more mass and thus more weight.

So, for a particular volume solids weigh more than liquids and gases.

Hi!
Solid weighs more in air than in liquid. when the particular solid is in water it experiences a buoyant force that acts upward against the gravitational force. thus the weight of solid in water will appear less. Thus weight of solid is more in air than in water. the best example that can be given in this case is when we take water from the well, the bucket do not feel heavier in water but as we pull it up from the water it becomes too heavy.

in air because gravity is acting fully bit in water solid feels a buoyant force.. that's why its apparent weight will less
