Why did Mahatma Gandhi lay emphasize on spinning yarn and weaving khadi?

 Mahatma Gandhi suggested spinning yarn and weaving khadi because of the following reasons:

  • He had found enormous strength in Non Co-operation movement;
  • He suggested usage Swadeshi goods and boycott of foreign goods;
  • He also believed that weaving and spinning would promote small scale industries in every home and on a larger scale , it would promote indigenous industries.

1) it would create a sense of nationalism since these are indian clothing
