birds fly as there body is made up of such material[light bones]that it can fly walk and run.but there are birds like penguin which we consider cant fly .

Birds fly because the body posture of the birds are made like that.They use their strong muscled wings and force in the down part to fly.birds use their swimming motion to fly.

So the shape of the wings and ability to move it through the air are 2 things needed for bird and plane flight.Birds use their strong breast muscles to flap their wings and give them the thrust to move throughout the air and fly.in a way birds use a swimming motion to get the lift needed to fly.
