Why is petroleum also reffered as nodal industry??

Petroleum or mineral oil is the next only to major energy source in India that is coal. It is nodal industry because it provides fuel for heat and lighting, lubricants for machinery and raw materials for a number of manufacturing industries like synthetic textile, fertiliser and numerous chemical industries.
