0.5x + $\frac{x}{3}$ , 0.25x + 7

⇒0.5x – 0.25x + $\frac{x}{3}$ = 7

⇒0.25x + $\frac{x}{3}$ = 7

$\Rightarrow \frac{0.75 x + x}{3} = 7$

⇒1.75x = 7 × 3 = 21

⇒ x = $\frac{21}{1.75}$ = 12
