Dictys raised her up and said, "My daughter, I am old, and I have no children to make my home cheerful. Come with me, then, and you shall be a daughter to me and to my wife and this your babe shall be our grandchild."

She requested him to be kind to her as she was a king's daughter and that boy's father was a god. She added that she would be no trouble to him and she would not be idle. She said that she could work better than any of the maidens in her own country. Dictys raised her up and said that he was old and had no children to make his house cheerful. he asked her to go with him and she would be a daughter to him and his wife, and that babe of hers would be their grandchild.
