Difference between light and shadow is: Light makes the world visible to us. Shadow is something that we observe whenever light faces an obstacle.

Umbra and penumbra are two different parts of shadow of an object. Umbra is the darker part of the shadow (light is completely obstructed). Penumbra is the less dark part of the shadow (light is partially obstructed). Umbra is the part of the shadow which is exactly behind the obstacle producing the shadow. Penumbra is the part of the shadow on the outer side of the obstacle.

Difference between Solar and Lunar eclipse are:
Solar eclipse: It is the eclipse of the Sun. The moon is in between the sun and the earth. The umbra and penumbra are the parts of moon’s shadow. It can occur only at the time of a New Moon.
Lunar eclipse: It is the eclipse of the Moon. The earth is in between the sun and the moon. The umbra and penumbra are the parts of earth's shadow. The moon passes through the shadow of the earth. It is possible only during Full Moon phases.
