1. From a rope 15 m long, 4 1 3 m is cut off and  3 5 of the remaining is cut off again. Find the length of the remaining part of the rope.

2. Perimeter of a rectangle is 2 m less than  2 5 of the perimeter of the square. If the perimeter of the square is 40 m, find the length and breadth of the rectangle given that the breadth is  1 3 of the breadth.

Hello Vanshika, from 15 m part 4 1/3 ie. 13/3 has been cut off
So balance = 15 - 13/3 = 32/3 m
Now 3/5 of this is cut off. So 2/5 of this remains
Hence remaining part 2/5 * 32/3 = 64/15 m or 4 + 4/15 m

Hello Vanshika, perimeter of square is 40 m
2/5 of this 2/5 * 40 = 16 m
By the problem perimeter of rectangle = 16 - 2 = 14 m
Given length is 3 b So perimeter = 8 b
By the problem 8 b = 14
Or b = 7/4 m
Hence length = 21/4 m and breadth = 7/4 m
