1. Landfill is a site for the disposal of the waste materials. If there were no landfills there would be great problem of waste disposal.
2. Biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes should be segregated in different bins because the technique of disposal of these two types of waste is different. 
3. Yes it is better to use compost because compost is organic in nature means it is formed from living organisms and it does not affect the environment. Fertilizers on the other hand are chemical in nature and have a harmful impact on the environment.
