As per this paragraph, when there's a configuration of multiple charges such that there net charge is zero i.e. a dipole, then in such case electric field is non zero only at smaller distance.
For very large distance the electric field is zero because electric field is inversely proportional to square of distance so at very large distance it's almost zero.
