A,B,C and D are positive Integers less than 10

  • A is three times of B
  • The difference b/ween Band D is 2
  • C is 1 less than D

Which is the smallest number ?

Dear Student,

Please find below the solution to the asked query:

We have A, B, C and D as the given positive integers less than 10.Now, we are given that,A = 3B    .....1B - D = 2   .....2D - B = 2      .....3D = C + 1    ......4From, 1, we see that, the possible values that B can take is 1, 2 and 3.CASE 1: WHEN B = 1From 1, we get A = 3If  we consider 2, we get 1 - D = 2 D = -1  Not possible, as all of them are positive integersConsider 3, we get D = 3Now, from 4, we get C = 2So, A = 3; B = 1; C = 2; D = 3Hence, B is the smallest among them.CASE 2 :WHEN B = 2From 1, we get A = 6If  we consider 2, we get 2 - D = 2 D = 0    Not possible, as all of them are positive integersConsider 3, we get D = 4Now from 4, we get C = 3So, A = 6; B = 2; C = 3; D = 4Hence, B is the smallest among them.CASE 3 : WHEN B = 3From 1, we get A = 9If we consider 2, we get 3 - D = 2  D = 1From 4, we get C = 1 - 1 = 0 Not possible, as all of them are positive integersConsider 3, we get D = 5From 4, we get C = 5 - 1 = 4So, A = 9; B = 3; C = 4; D = 5Hence, B is the smallest among them.So, we see that in all the three cases we get B as the smallest number .

Hence, B is the smallest number.

answer to this question is B as A =3B and hence it is greater than B

D=b+2 and hence it is greater than B and by thiss we get C = B +2-1 which is = to b-1 and hence c is greater than B also

Hope it might be useful to u:-

B as A =3B and hence it is greater than B D=b+2 and hence it is greater than B and by thiss we get C = B +2-1 which is = to b-1 and hence c is greater than B.

so have a good day...
