a bag contains 6 red balls and some blue balls. if the probability of drawing a blue ball from the bag is twice that of a red ball , find the number of blue balls

Given Red balls = 6

Let Blue balls  = B

Total balls = B + 6

P(E)of blue balls is double than red balls

then

P(E) blue = 2 x P(E) red

B / B + 6 = 2 x  6 / B + 6

B = 12

Therefore ther are 12 blue balls

  • 23

ans = 12 balls

Let no. of blue balls be x.

so, total no. of balls in the bag = ( x + 6 )

so, probability of drawing a blue ball = ( x ) / ( x + 6 )

and, probability of drawing a red ball = ( 6 ) / ( x + 6 )

given,                       ( x ) / ( x + 6 )           =        2          *            ( 6 ) / ( x + 6 )

                                         so, x = 2 * 6 = 12
