a ball of mass 100g moving with a velocity 10m/s is stopped by a boy in 0.2 s. calculate the force applied by the boy to stop the ball.

m = 100 g= 100/1000 = 0.1 kg.
u = 10 m/s
v = 0 m/s
t = 0.2 sec
v = u+at
a = (v -u)/t = (0-10)/0.2
by removing the decimals,
-10*10/2 = -100/2 = -50 m/sec
F = ma = 0.1 ( -50) = -5
therefore the force needed to stop the ball is 5 N.
