A bar magnet is carefully broken into two equal parts as shown in the figure . Write the polarity of each part of the magnet and also the magnetic strength of each piece compared with that of the original magnet.

​​​​​​If a bar magnet is broken in two pieces then each piece is a complete magnet having both north and south poles.However the strength of magnetism of each part is reduced.If a magnet is broken into two equal parts the magnetic strength of each part is half the magnetic strength of the original magnet.

Say, the magnetic strength of magnet is 1.
It is broken into two pieces, the magnetic strength of two pieces will be 0.5 each.
Now, again these two pieces is broken into two pieces each. The magnetic strength will be 0.25 each.
