A beaker of a liquid with the vapour pressure of 350 ton at 250 c is set alongside of the beaker of water( vapour pressure of 23. 76 ton) and both are allowed to evaporate. In which liquid does the temperature change at the faster rate and why?

Dear Student,

The vapour pressure rises non - linearly with temperature. A higher vapour pressure resources a low boiling Point. A liquid with a lower vapor pressure has a higher rate of change of temperature. Thus, water has a lower vapor pressure. So it has a quicker change of temperature, since beaker of pressure 23.76 torr in a room temperature  and beaker of pressure 350 Torr is in 252.780C temperature. Hence beaker of pressure 350 Torr will evaporate faster.
