a circular flower bed is surrounded by a path 4m wide. the diameter of the flower bed is 66m. what is the area of the path?

Given that:-

Diameter of the flower bed(d) = 66 m

∴ Radius of the flower bed (r1) = 33 m

So, the area of the flower bed (A1) = πr12

 = 3.14 × 33 × 33

 = 3419.46 m2

Also the width of road is 4 m

∴ Radius of the flower bed with road (r2) = (33 + 4) m

 = 37 m

So the area of the flower bed with road (A2) = πr22

 = 3.14 × 37 × 37

 = 4298.66 m2

Hence the area of the road = (Area of the flower bed with road) – (Area of flower bed)

 = A2 – A1

 = 4298.66 × 3419.46 m2

 = 879.20 m2

Given that:-

Diameter of the flower bed(d) = 66 m

∴ Radius of the flower bed (r 1) = 33 m

So, the area of the flower bed (A1) = πr 1 2

= 3.14 x 33 x 33

= 3419.46 m2

Also the width of road is 4 m

∴ Radius of the flower bed with road (r 2) = (33 + 4) m

= 37 m

So the area of the flower bed with road (A2) = πr2 2

= 3.14 x 37 x 37

= 4298.66 m2

Hence the area of the road = (Area of the flower bed with road) – (Area of flower bed)

= A2 – A1

= 4298.66 - 3419.46 m2

= 879.20 m2

Radius of the flower bed= 66m
Radius of the flower bed=path=70m

total area - area of garden = area of path
(22/7)*70*70- (22/7) * 66 * 66
=1709.7 m^2

Abhijeet you did it wrong. First we must take out the radius and then add the width of the path in it.

I was going to answer this question but i found @ayushi did it correctly.....

Thumbs up to you ayushi..

Diameter of flower bed =  66m.

So, Radius = 33m

So, area of flower bed = 22/7 x 33 x 33 = 23958/7 or 3422 4/7 m.sq.

Diameter of flower bed including path = 66 + 2(4) = 74 m

So, radius = 37m

So, area of flower bed including path = 22/7 x 37 x 37 = 30118/7 or 4312 4/7 m.sq.

Therefore, area of path = Area of flower bed including path - Area of flower bed

Area of path = 4312 4/7 - 3422 4/7 = 890 m.sq.
