A coil of self inductance 2H carries a 2A current. If the direction of current is reversed in 1 sec then induced emf in it
a) -8    b) 8   c) -4   d) 0
here the ans is (b)...so my question is does the current add up in reverse direction ?

Dear Student,

According to Faradays law,Induced Emf=-LItnow, I=Ifinal-Iinitial-2-2=-4 At=1 s and L=2 Hor, Induced Emf=-2×-41=8 VThe - sign in faradays law is called len's correction, which is an automaticresultant for consevration of energy.

Regards.
