A drum full of Kerosene catches fire. What is the simplest way to put off the fire?

You can use fire extinguisher, which releases CO2 gas and cut off the oxygen supply. However, water proves to be useless in this case because kerosene being lighter than water, floats on it and hence fire can not be quenched with water
