A person needs a lens of power -5.5D for correcting his distant vision. For correcting his near vision he needs a lens of power +1.5D.Identify the disease he is suffering from. Find the focal length of the lens required for correcting i) distant vision ii ) near vision?

When it is difficult to see distant object then eye defect is MYOPIA.
When it is difficult to see near by  object then eye defect is HYPERMYOPIA
focal length = 1power(1) f=1-5.5=-0.1818 m = -18.18 cm(2)  f=11.5=0.666m = 66.66 cm = 67 cm
