Let , Ratio coefficient =  x 


So,

Length of two pieces are 3 x and 5 x

Also given , the whole ribbon is 640 cm long , So

3 x + 5 x = 640

8 x  =  640

x =  80

So,

Length of two pieces =  3 ( 80 ) =  240  cm and 5 ( 80 ) =  400 cm 

Therefore,
