Dear Student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query:

Let A and B be the centres of the smaller and bigger circles,respectively.We have,BC=BD=BF=BE=30 cm,AP=AF=20 cmarCDE=?Let CDE be an isosceles triangle representing the capAs, BF=30 cmAB+AF=30AB+20=30AB=30-20=10 cmSo, BP=AP-AB=20-10=10 cm        .....iAlso, BE=30 cmBP+PE=3010+PE=30PE=30-10PE=20 cm       .....iiSince, CD is a tangent to the smaller circleSo, BPCD          Tangent is perpendicular to the radius at the point of contactAlso, CD is a chord of the bigger circleSo, CP=DP          Perpendicular drawn from centre to the chord bisects the chord      .....iiiNow, in BPC, using pythagoras theoremCP2=BC2-BP2CP=302-102          As, BC=30 cm, given and BP=10 cm, from iCP=900-100=800CP=202 cmSo, CD=2CD               From iiiCD=2202=402 cmNow, arCED=12×CD×PE=12×402×20arCED=4002 cm2Hence, the area of the cap is 4002 cm2.

I suppose this is the answer:

See the bottom of the cap is the diameter of the big circle, so the angle made by the diameter on the circle, ie, the top if the cap is 90 degrees. Hence it is right angled triangle.

The area of the triangle must be 1/2 x b x h.

The base would be 2(Radius of big circle) = 60cm.

The height would be the diameter of the small circle.( Look at the figure, you'll understand )= 40 cm

Hence the area would be, 1/2 x 60 x 40 = 1200 cm 2.

Hope this helps! All the Best!

225 cm

sorry #shwaetha but this is not the answer cause the angle beneath the cap is not 90 degree

is the answer 900cm2.
area of triangle=1/2*b*h
1/2*radius of large circle * raadius of small circle
then the area of cap is 900

Hey, any angle subtended by the diameter of a point on a semi circle is 90 degrees, right? So, my answer is right.
