A reduction of 10% in the price of rice enables Salma to buy 2kg more of rice for Rs.360.00.Find the original price of rice per kg?

Dear Student

Calculation of original price of rice per kg

Let original price of rice per kg is Rs x

Quantity of rice bought for Rs 360 = 360x kg
Reduction in price = 10%

So, reduced price of 1 kg rice  = x - 10% of x = x - 10100×x = x - 0.1x = Rs 0.9x

Quantity of rice bought for Rs 360 = 3600.9x kg

New Price enable Salma to buy 2 kg more.

So, according to given condition :  3600.9x-360x=236009x - 360x = 2400x - 360x = 2400-360x = 240x = 2x = 20

Original Price per kg of Rice is Rs. 20

let price of rice be Rs. x and new price of rice be 90x/100 = 9x/10
let the rice she bought earlier to be y kg and rice she bought now be (y + 2) kg

therefore,                      xy = 9x(x + 2)/10
therefore,                            y = 18

Also,                  xy = 360
                         18x = 360
                            x = 20

therefore,     Rs. 20 is the original price of rice per kg.
