A wall of length 10m was to be built across an open ground. The height of the wall is 4m and thickness of the wall is 24m. If this wall is to be built up with bricks whose dimensions are 24cm X 10cm X 8cm, how many bricks would be required?

Length of the wall, l = 10 m = 100 cm

Breadth of the wall, b = 24 m = 2400 cm

Height of the wall, h = 4 m = 400 cm

Volume of the wall = l × b × h = 100 cm × 2400 cm × 400 cm = 96000000 cm3

Dimension of the brick = 24 cm × 10 cm × 8 cm

∴ Volume of each brick = 24 cm × 10 cm × 8 cm = 1920 cm3

Let the number of bricks required be n.

n × Volume of each brick = Volume of the wall

Thus, the number of brick required is 50000.

volume of the wall=10(4)(24).

  =960 cubic metre.

volume of 1 wall=24(10)(8)

 =1920 cubic centimetre.

  =0.001920 cubic metre.

total no.of bricks required=volume of the wall/volume of 1 brick.

  =960/0.001920.

  =500000 bricks.
